IT MAY BE THAT PUTIN PROPOSES HIS CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN ARMENIA

Politics

"If Robert Kocharyan is re-elected for 5 more years, development of economy of the country will be disturbed",- Parliament deputy Shavarsh Kocharyan said today. He thinks the scrapes in the Parliament and demand for the president's impeachment are consequences of the presidential system.

Shavarsh Kocharyan is sure Robert Kocharyan won't excuse the Opposition for its demand for his impeachment. Shavarsh Kocharyan thinks authorities are to be changed through the Constitutional Court.

He suggests the 13 parties to propose a common candidate for the presidential election. He says that candidate is to submit a program on a Parliamentary system to the Parliament by the end of 2003. In that case the power of the president will remain in force up to the Parliamentary election. Only "People's Party of Armenia" and "National People's Union" object to that proposal.

By the way, Shavarsh Kocharyan thinks it may well be that Russia's president Vladimir Putin proposes his candidate for the post of Armenian president.
