REPORT FROM "BATTLEFIELD"

Politics

Armenian National Assembly rostrum has been again occupied at today’s session. Members of Armenian Popular Party Aramais Barseghyan and Stepan Zakaryan along with “Republics” party representatives Ghukas Ulikhanyan and Samvel Saghatelyan blocked rostrum demanding to put a motion on no confidence into Armenian president Robert Kocharyan into agenda.

Speaker Armen Khachatryan in a bid to ignore this circumstance proposed to discuss some bills. Bills’ authors presented the bills briefly from their seats, without approaching the rostrum. Such a way three bills were discussed. They all have being discussed in third reading. When time to present a bill in first reading came, then bill’s author failed in attempt to come near rostrum. The Speaker had to announce a break.

However, after the break nothing changed. It remained impossible to come near the rostrum. Armen Khachatryan asked the “occupants” whether they were going to continue session obstruction. Upon receiving positive answer the speaker was left with no alternative but to announce that session was over.

National Assembly’s last three-day session has been failed. To discuss current issues authorities believed to hold an extraordinary session.
