Is Serzh Sargsyan copying Aram Sargsyan?
Chairman of the "Republic" party Aram Sargsyan pities the posture of Serzh Sargsyan and Edward Nalbandyan.
"A1+" had an interview with Aram Sargsyan and the main topic of the discussion was the Turkish-Armenian relations and possible developments.
Aram Sargsyan: We have not been in favor of living with closed borders for centuries, but Robert Kocharyan and his coalition, including Serzh Sargsyan, Gagik Tsarukyan, Artur Baghdasaryan, Hrant Margaryan and Vahan Hovhannisyan, were. They've changed their views, or some. Let them try. Of course, they should consult when making mistakes. I have never been in favor of living with closed borders.
"A1+": You are saying that they should try. But what if they make irreversible mistakes in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the Armenian Genocide?
A. S.: These authorities are not even capable of making irreversible mistakes. They started out by lying and deceiving everyone, which is impossible. The opening of the Turkish-Armenian border, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and recognition of the Armenian Genocide are interwoven. Those who say that they are not, are lying. It would be right for them to say that the issues are interwoven and that it is a step-by-step process and that the next process is the resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict which must be resolved peacefully and through concessions. Let them say what concessions they're ready for. They are concealing all that.
"A1+": Our society today has started to talk more about the posture of Edward Nalbandyan during the signing of the Turkey-Armenia Protocols and Serzh Sargsyan during the football match, rather than the Turkey-Armenia Protocols itself. Has their posture had an impact on you as well?
A. S.: I have known Serzh Sargsyan for a long time and I know when his laugh is sincere and when it's not. Serzh Sargsyan is in a desperate situation and that's why he was laughing. He has even started to copy me when he says, "my dear team", "God help Armenia", etc. As for Nalbandyan, I simply pity him. I got the impression that he signed a capitulation and that he was forced to sign it. I regret to say that these authorities put themselves in this situation. It is all false and it has to end. Change of power will come soon and I assure you that the people will stand up. I demand Serzh Sargsyan's resignation for the falsified elections, October 27, the corruption and oligarchy in the country, the illegal trials, the media and for the corrupting the country. As for the Turkey-Armenia Protocols, I am in favor of opening the border.
"A1+": You are in favor of the opening of the border, but are you content with the current Protocols?
A. S.: I am certain that Armenians would have benefited much more from the process if Levon Ter-Petrosyan was president. I am certain that the signed Protocols would be different and the opening of the Turkish-Armenian border would be opened with dignity if we had a legitimate president. Those who came to power through the events of March 1 had to sign those documents with such facial expressions.
"A1+": Why is the Armenian National Congress silent?
A. S.: I assure you that there is no stopping us. It's just that our society is used to rallies, but it's not like that. Levon Ter-Petrosyan has many ways of showing his activeness and the opportunity to give spirit and content. The time will come for that and you will be convinced.
