"I am unaware of cases when someone has concealed a broadcasting frequency," Minister of Transport and Communication Gurgen Sargsian told A1+.

Let's remind that last week during a sitting of the Appellate Chamber Council MP Anahit Bakhshian was told that there are free frequencies in Armenia. After Anahit Bakhshian raised the issue at the sitting she was told she had been deluded. Later they said the author of the report misheard the question.

A1+ addressed the question to the Minister of Transport and Communication.

Are there free frequencies in Armenia?

Today there are different technologies of television development which have no connection with broadcasting frequencies and we needn't confuse them.  The National Commission for Television and Radio is in charge of the field. They have exhausted all chances. We shall refer to them in the future if the new technologies open new chances.

What about the process of digitalization under way in Armenia?

The interdepartmental commission deals with digitalization. Presently they are elaborating a concept. Results will be given later. I must say that we work under fixed time limits.

If you say that there are no free frequencies it means the Law on Television and Radio should be amended to meet PACE recommendations calling for an open, fair and transparent tender which has been frozen by 2011?

The tender will be announced in 2011 after we fully shift to digitalization.

Do you mean to say that no tender will be held by then?

The law gives us equal opportunities and there is no mention about tenders by 2011.
