THE GREEKS TRIED TO BRIBE THE GAME

Armenia-Greece football meeting of the 6th tour of “Euro-2004” took place. The Greeks won that game thanks to the goal by Vrizas, scored at the 34th minute of the game. Unexpected facts over the football meeting were revealed at the press conference held later.

After Otto Rehagel, the trainer of the Greeks had left the press conference, the journalists were told that Ruben Hayrapetyan, Chair of the Football Federation of Armenia, was going to make a statement. He informed that during the recent 15 days some people tried to bribe the Armenian football players but the guys didn’t agree to it and caused FFA to be informed.

2 days earlier the game Yervand Sukiasyan phoned Ruben Hayrapetyan from Greece and told that Chairman of Greece’ Football Federation suggested $1.000.000 for losing the game. The telephone conversation was recorded, which was introduced to the commissar of Armenia-Greece meeting. Mr Hayrapetyan thinks the incidents created acute tension among the football players, which was the reason for defeat.

P.S. Football Federation of Greece appeared with an official statement, refuting all the accusations Ruben Hayrapetyan had announced for.
