Hakob Serobyan, head coach of the Armenian men's gymnastics team, told "A1 +" that Armenian gymnasts will not participate in the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. "The junior Olympic gymnastics tournament has recently been held in Baku, Azerbaijan. We refused to participate and were automatically out of the fight. We have no other way to win the Olympic ticket," said the coach. In response to our question why the Armenian gymnastics federation made such a decision, if it was the only chance to win the Olympic ticket, Hakob Serobyan said:  "We, of course, applied to the RA Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs on this issue. We were told that it would not be desirable to go to Baku, as there is a tense atmosphere in the competitions, so it is impossible to perform calmly. Given this, as well as the fact that our gymnast is still young and cannot stand that tension, we decided to give up those competitions." As Hakob Serobyan stated, our young gymnasts could definitely win the right to participate in the Olympic Games in Baku. "The 1st-17th places were in the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games. Our young gymnast Zhora Smbatyan will definitely occupy the same place, since he has recently occupied the first place in the international tournament with 77.0 points," concluded Hakob Serobyan. Moreover, the European Gymnastics Championship 2020 will also be held in Baku.
