The Court of Appeal decided to release the leader of “New Armenia” front Jirair Sefilian on bail.
By today’s decision, the defenders’ statements were partially met. Court of Appeal sentenced Hrair Topchyan, Galust Grigoryan, Nerses Poghosyan and Sasunik Kirakosyan for 2 years in prison, Gevorg Safaryan for 2 years and 6 months, Jirair Sefilian for 5 years and 6 months.
Personal assurances were given for Safarian and the others by deputies from the Tsarukyan and Yelk factions.
Armenia’s opposition Founding Parliament initiative leader Jirair Sefilian has been sentenced to 10.5 years in prison. He was charged with preparing to organize mass unrests and to seize buildings and constructions, with the use of weapons.
