VALTER SHVIMER ABOUT "A1+"

Social

Valter Shvimer, the Secretary General of European Council, spoke about "A1+" TV Company as well while meeting the students and lecturers of Yerevan State University. He was asked: " How do You appraise the actions by Armenian Authorities after the well-known statements by OSCE and European Union had been made? " Mr. Shvimer answered that European Union welcomes diversity in Mass Media, especially the private ones which can compete with state Media. He understands that "A1+" TV Company will have a chance to participate in the new tender for licence and they will watch it intently .

As known, Freimut Duve, the OSCE representative of Freedom of the Media announced last month that the Authtorities must propose amendments to the Legislation so that "A1+" broadcasts on the former frequency range untill "Sharm" occupies the frequency. Duve also said that it was preferable to conduct a new tender for non-used frequencies in summer . The European Union countries joined the statement.
