INFORMATION ON RUSSIAN KRASNOARMEYSK TOWN INCIDENT
Support A1+!As RIA “Novosti” reports, there was a clash between local youth and Armenian community representatives before the pogrom. Krasnoarmeysk Home Department says the quarrel broke out in one of town’s cafes. Drunken young men started a scuffle with the café customers of Armenian origin. In the street scuffle grew in a large- scale clash with 30 involved.
Another Russian source says scuffle between a resident of Russian Ivanovo province Garik Sayan, 43, and local resident Igor Samolyuk, 26 broke out in a bar. Samolyuk was stabbed with knife during the scuffle and the suspect was taken into custody. However, victim’s 20 to 25 friends undertake an attack against Armenians Sunday night. About 50 participated in the attack.
As NTV reports, the incident in Krasnoarmeysk can’t be regarded as ethnic clash. This was an ordinary scuffle.
The matter is under investigation. The detainees have to be tried on one count of inflicting deliberate damage to health and another count of hooliganism.
