Installation of Turkish military base in Nakhijevan will violate the provisions of Kars treaty signed in 1921. Armenia is also a party to the document signed between Soviet Russia and Turkey and it has a legal right to voice against the installation of Turkish military base. According to the words of Garnik Isagulyan, Chairman of National Security Party, the installation of Turkish military base in Nakhijevan will not be welcomed also by great players of the world. “No matter how Russia-Turkish relations grow warm, Russia will never want Turkey to get stronger in Transcaucasia or to have its military base in Nakhijevan. Besides, I don’t think that the West would like Turkey to get so strong in that sense. Brussels, Iran will be against it, and we shouldn’t forget that it isn’t beneficial also for China that Turkey expands toward the east.” According to the assessment of Garnik Isagulyan, the joint military exercises of Turkey and Azerbaijan weren’t left out of the sight of the military-political leadership of Armenia and Artsakh. “The relevant structures of Armenian and Artsakh attentively follow those military exercises, and you know, a statement was issued both through the press secretary of the Defense Army and press secretary of President, in connection with the fact that if it continues and they resort to some provocations, we are ready to give a relevant answer.” To remind, the joint military exercises of Turkey and Azerbaijan have been underway from May 1st to May 5. According to the information of Garnik Isagulyan, joint Turkish-Azerbaijani-Georgian military exercises are scheduled in Georgia on June 4-14.
