Charge pressed against 9 persons for using violence against representatives of authority

Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on using violence against representatives of authority related to performing their official duties was completed in the Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against 9 persons. Pursuant to preliminary investigation data, on June 24, 2016 at about 22:30 police officials of Mush Division of Gyumri of Shirak Regional Department of the RA Police Kh. Petrosyan, H. Aghabekyan and T. Danielyan, who was in uniform, left for a hotel complex to check the call received from there. On the way – in front of the shop “Ghars” situated in Ghars street they noticed cars of “Mercedes” and “Volkswagen Vento” make. The music was loud in the cars and young people, who were half out of the open windows of the cars, shouted, scolded and continually gave voice signals. In order to call the drivers and passengers of the mentioned cars to order, to maintain public order the police officials stopped the cars and introducing themselves tried to call them to order. However, the passengers of the mentioned cars, being under the influence of alcohol, got out of the cars and not obeying the legal demand to stop violating the public order used violence and beat the representatives of authority. On the base of the evidence obtained during pretrial proceeding charge was pressed against one of the passengers of the mentioned cars according to the Part 2 of the Article 316 of RA Criminal Code, charge was pressed against other 8 passengers according to the Part 1 of the Article 316 of RA Criminal Code. The criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation. Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
