A MEETING IN DEFENCE OF A1+ TV COMPANY
Support A1+!Today the meeting in defence of speech freedom took place. Though it was raining 7.000 - 10.000 people according to different accounts took part in the meeting. At the begining of the meeting it was announced that 2 buses from Abovyan City had been stopped. "People are being prevented from moving to the Capital city. The Authorities try to create separation among people, weaken the powers. But we won't give up, we are strong, they are to leave thus preventing Armenia from destruction",- announced Albert Bazeyan, the head of Republic Party Political Council. He added:" Courage display is not in Power holding with force but leaving the post meanwhile realizing the mistakes made".
Shavarsh Kocharyan, the head of National Democracy Party one more time referred to the Law on TV and Radio and the illegal decision made by the Commission which led to that "A1+" TV Channel was banned from air. Aram Sargsyan, the Republic party leader announced that Robert Kocharyan is to be prevented from taking part in 2003 year elections and he must leave as soon as possible. This statement was welcomed by the meeting participants who acclaimed and exclaimed: " Robert, leave Your post!".
Then the people began marching at the centre of the city demanding "A1+" TV Channel to be restored and the president to leave his post.
