The depreciation of the Armenian dram began in late October and has been continuing during the last few weeks. On Monday, the Central Bank clarified that the adjustment of the Armenian currency rate - 435 AMD per $1 - is determined by the recent developments at the regional and international financial markets. In the last three months the CB has sold more than 60 million US dollar.   Opinions on the abrupt decline of the Armenian dram and CB actions differ. From a business point of view, the dollar-dram fluctuations affect different strata of society in different ways. A1+ has interviewed economist Vahagn Khachatryan who shared his opinion on the devaluation of the dram and CB’s policy.
