IT’S HARD TO WORK TOGETHER

Economy

Before the elections president Robert Kocharyan promised to increase jobs by a few thousands. No dizzy figures were cited. What happens in Armenia now is just the contrary what Kocharyan had promised .

In a few days the “army of unemployed” people of Armenia may probably include 1900 novices. Under the Law, workers of “Armenian Aviation” Company have received information in written about the expected job cut . The workers, pilots in particular, tried to protect their rights, striking. One of the demands was to settle the salary of 8 months.

But the protest action fail. For only the “perspective” of becoming unemployed the staff of “Armenian Aviation” must thank the Government which gave consent to several contracts concluded between “Siberia Airlines” CJSC and “ArmAvia” Air-company” on March 27.

At the bottom of the real contexts of the contracts and the nice phrasings by Government is that the staff of “Siberia Airlines” will carry out the majority of flights. That plank of the contract will be valid beginning from April 15.

That means the company, coming Armenia won’t need 300 high class pilots and 1600 other workers of “Armenian Aviation” .

That fact that no flight to CIS took place last Saturday bore no relation to the strike of the pilots. This time the problem arose between “Armenian Aviation” and “Ros Aero Navigation”. The Armenian part has debt of 2 million $ to the Russian one for carrying out flights in the Russian territory.

Under the agreement, the debt was to be discharged within a year. The sums from ticket sale are channelled to debt paying.

For having carried out flights in the Russian territory the Armenian side will probably pay “”Ros Aero Navigation” 30000 $ today for the coming 10 days. “Armenian Aviation” assures problems won’t arise 10 days later as the debt will be paid off regularly .
