ARMENIA, RUSSIA SIGNING ANOTHER PROPERTY-FOR-DEBT AGREEMENT

Armenian PM Andranik Margaryan Tuesday received his Russian counterpart Mikhail Kassyanov.

Andranik Margaryan attaches a great importance to the agreements on cooperation in the field of the electronics and energy industry signed by the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission co-chairs Serje Sarkissyan and Ilya Klebanov in the framework of the Russian delegation visit to Armenia. It is the second time for the year Armenia has signed a property-for-debt agreement with Russia. “Mars” CJSC, Hrazdan Heat Power Plant and Yerevan Recearch Institute of Mathematical Machines were passed under Russia’s ownership for $100-million debt. Armenian premier said it was the first stage of the resumption of bilateral cooperation to be followed by the second one aimed at the reconstruction of those Armenian enterprises passed under Russia’s ownership as the repayment of the republic state debt to Russia.

Mikhail Kassyanov, in turn, said the Russia had acquired the enterprises to establish the beneficial for both sides partnership, which means new jobs creation and state budget replenishment by tax payments.

Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission co-chairs Serje Sarkissyan and Ilya Klebanov expressed their satisfaction with the results of the two countries joint activity.
