WORLD SUMMIT OF STABLE DEVELOPMENT TO BE HELD IN SOUTHERN AFRICA

Armenia is getting prepared for the World Summit of Stable Development that is to be held in South Africa in August - September this year. As Mrs. Amar, the representative of UNO Armenia Head Office says, the national possibilities of human development will be studied during the summit under UNO patronage.

As the Office expert Armen Martirosyan said, the summit "is the human's attempt to clear the future" .

Toady during the seminar on ecology issues Armenia Ecology Minister Vardan Ayvazyan explained for Armenian, Georgian and Azeri representatives what he meant saying stable development. As he said, "the stable development is when through developing economy evenly one is able to preserve the natural resources".

As Mr. Ayvazyan thinks, the developing countries use much more reserves of resources. He thinks that leads to resources' degradation. According to the Minister's words, the land in Armenia has been degraded because of forests' cutting in 10 recent years. The Minister hopes for in 7 years the restoration of the damage caused by forests' cutting.

As Mr. Ayvazyan said, the Ministry had refused the New - Year trees' cutting. "I'm bringing an action against 2 people for having cut the trees",- says the Minister after 137 days trees' sale has been stopped.

By the way, as he said, "a project of $ 7-8 mln." for elimination of air pollution will soon be functioning in Armenia. It will be the compensation by foreign organizations to the activity causing damages in the ecology aspect in Armenia.
