WOMEN AS WELL LOOK FOR JUSTICE

Politics

Being concerned about lack of implementation of just and transparent elections in Armenia, impossibility of suffrage, “Justice” Bloc’ co-ordinating board for the Republican Movement of Women, has today held a discussion on “Suffrage and Democracy”.

According to Dustrik Mkhitaryan, member of co-ordinating board for the Republican Movement of Women, power has been seized in Armenia since 1996 . She says 2003’ presidential elections in Armenia were marred by active participation of “policemen with rubber truncheons” .

Ethnologist Hranush Kharatyan, “Hazarashen” NGO Chair, is not surprised at that fact. She says a state figure with a gun has been a “normal” phenomenon since 1996, so a policeman with a truncheon is not shocking.

Kharatyan foresees after May 25 the national bourgeoisie will make a majority in Parliament obviously breaking the rights of the other social strata.

Lawyer Avetik Ishkhanyan thinks Opposition made a mistake when didn’t go up to the end in struggle for “A1+” re-broadcasting. “Fight against restriction of speech freedom would be the pledge for the future victory” .

“There will be no just and transparent elections until people realise the suffrage to be inviolable” , Hrayr Tovmasyan said.

By the way, he is even ready to accept the Devil if elections are normal. He says it will be a miracle if the parliamentary elections pass fairly.
