MAKEYAN FIGHTS AGAINST ANTI-CONSTITUTIONALITY
Support A1+!“It is not serious to fight against consequences in the political struggle. Causes are to be fought against. And the political crisis is the cause – there haven’t been Authorities, formed in a legal and constitutional way for 5 years” , Petros Makeyan, Chair for “Democratic Homeland” Party announced at the Party congress.
According to him, Kocharyan has infringed Constitution twice:
1.when was nominated as a candidate for Armenian presidency in1998
2.when seized the president’s post from Karen Demirchyan who de facto won victory .
“Democratic Homeland” Party and the press were the only one to fight against constitutional irregularities then , Makeyan says.
He described nowadays’ situation this way: anybody can be declared as missing after leaving his or her house or be murdered when being back home .
Makeyan remembered “A1+” ceasing, Poghos Poghosyan’s murder in “Aragast” cafe, privatisation, the disgracing mechanisms for debt repaying etc.
He also recalled the hearings in the Parliament Committee for State and Legal Matters in 1998, regarding irregularities in the systems of Ministries of Internal Affairs and National Security. As a result of hearings, it was demanded to relieve Serj Sargsyan, Minister of Internal Affairs and National Security from the post.
Makeyan stated the disastrous effects which may occur if Robert Kocharyan seizes the president’s post for the ordinary time.
1.Emigration rate of recent years will increase. It had reduced because people repose their hopes in the coming elections.
2. Danger for the war to re-begin becomes real.
3. Process for both physical and mental annihilation of the political opposition will re-begin .
Makeyan named all the successes achieved by the Party. Thanks to efforts of DHP in particular, “ArmenTel” right for monopoly was reduced from 15 years to 5 in the Constitutional Court .
So, taking into account all the achievements, Party decided to take part in both parliamentary and presidential elections.
At the congress Petros Makeyan’s candidature was put forward for the coming presidential elections .
