OPPOSITION PARTIES ADOPT JOINT PROGRAM

Basic provisions of 16 opposition parties’ joint program were eventually adopted at alliance meeting held Tuesday. The parties’ joint approaches to the country’s key issues were recorded at the program. In particular, radical change of current system and political regime as well as nation-wide discussions over the Constitution versions and referendum are among the top objectives of the program.

It looks at first sight that the basic provisions, which worked out by the union within an entire month, are quite simple. But upon scrutinising them is became clear that the necessity of carefully worded language of the program clauses prompted by the urgent necessity of putting them into reality.

The document attaches a great importance to Russian –Armenian relationship strengthening.

The union decided to make all possible efforts to prevent fraud and irregularities in the course of local government elections.

Shavarsh Kocharyan says no other problems were discussed at today’s meeting.

Communists and National Unity party members were absent from the meeting.
