earthquake hits Azerbaijan; termors felt in Stepanakert
A 5.0-magnitude earthquake hit Azerbaijan Sunday, 22 km northwest from Shamakhi city.
The force of the epicenter measured 6-7 on the Richter scale. The hypocenter of the quake was at a depth of 20km.
The tremors of 3 magnitude were also felt in Stepanakert, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, reports the National Seismic Protection Service of Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
A week ago, another 3-magnitude earthquake hit Azerbaijan, 37 km northeast of Karvachar, with tremors being felt in Stepanakert.
