Tornado hits Italy
A tornado has hit Italy which was recently hit by a fresh quake.
Citizens of Venice witnessed a real calamity on Tuesday night which, as they say, is typical of the Middle East and America. They saw a strong tornado making its way north east towards the island of Sant'Erasmo and sweeping everything on its way. Trees were uprooted, medieval buildings damaged and market stalls overturned. A number of boats were capsized. Initial reports suggest that around one hundred trees on Certosa Island were knocked down by the tornado and the outdoor dining area of the island's restaurant was completely destroyed. On Sant'Erasmo Island, the roofs were removed from around a dozen houses. Many were trapped by falling branches while sheltering in different places.
Firefighters, ordinary people and police are working on the site to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster.
