ILYUMZHINOV TRYING TO PLEASE AZERIS
Support A1+!President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived in Baku on official call where he met with meads of Chess Federation of Azerbaijan. The President of Fide sounded, that they had not recognized the results of international tournaments held in Azerbaijan and wouldn't.
«The tournaments held in Karabakh are not held under the aegis of FIDE, i.e., their results will not be taken into account and will make no difference in the chess players’ rating, as we had refused the Armenian party’s suggestion to organize tournaments there”.
June 2, 2006 elections of FIDE presidents will take place and such kind of visits will continue to appear.
