COACH EXPLAINING HIS TEAM FAILURE

Sports

On Tuesday, Armenian junior national team’s coach Vardan Minasyan, speaking at a news conference, tried to explain why his team performed so unsuccessfully in trials for European Cup.

The coach says he was given too little time - only two weeks - to train the team.

“Besides, Armenian juniors’ rivals in the trials were strong, they all are 19-year-old while our team is predominantly made of 17- and 18-year old football players”, he said.

Minasyan noted the lack of professionalism though pointed out that three black football players included in Armenian team are skilled enough.

The coach confessed that his team success in the first round of the rials was accidental and due to the rivals’ weakness.

Armenian juniors’ megalomania bars them from progressing. Journalists’ groundless praising adds fuel to their complacency, he said.
