Fine arts study group in secondary school #2 in Nerqin Getashen was formed in 1999. From then on it took part in number of republic and international contests achieving noticeable success within that period.

The last contest the pupils of the study group took part in was in Chenstokhov, Poland, in the 7-th international annual contest-exhibition “The Child and the Dog”. 57 countries took part in the contest with 22 522 works. 294 children from Armenia participated in the contest, 4 of which were awarded prizes.

3 of the winners from Armenia were the pupils of fine arts study group of Nerqin Getashen school # 2 Mariam Galstyan (age 15), Perch Gevorgyan (age 8) and Armine Nersisyan (age 13). The Jury prepared Special First prize for 19 participants. Mariam Galstyan from Armenia got that prize.

Presenting the achievements of the study group, head of the group Nektar Sahakyan noted that her pupils gained that success without any support from the Ministry of Culture or any other state department. The only support, as Mrs. Sahakyan mentioned, came from Henrik Igityan who organized the exhibition of the study group members in 2004.
