THE ARMENIAN REGIONS HAVE NOT YET OVERCOME POVERTY
Support A1+!In the Shirak, Tavoush, Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions there is a problem with irrigation water and water supplying organizations. In particular, in the Shirak region only 15% of the housekeeping gets necessary irrigation water. The process of paying for the water is not regulated. The problem of the water supplying organizations is also serious. There are no such organizations, for example, in the Shirak region.
These facts were summed up during the investigations realize within the framework of the Poverty Overcoming Strategic Program. The investigations were realized in the above mentioned 4 regions since September 1, 2003. The aim of the program was to process and carry out social programs with the support of social structures, raise public awareness and contribute to the process of human rights' defense.
During one year a positive change has been notes in the Health field. In the 4 regions the activity of family doctors has been regulated. As a result of the surveys it also turned out that the rural population rarely goes to hospitals.
