COLD DESTROYS LIBRARIES

Regions

During the recent several years the libraries in Gyumri are badly heated. The librarians and readers often bring the fuel from their own homes, our colleagues from Tsayg TV company report.

The electric heaters do not provide the essential temperature as each library can use 2 kilowatts for heating the rooms. Presently only one room is heated with the help of an oven.

''We are not able to heat reading halls and archives'', says Ara Papanyan, the director of the centralized library system. Problems with heating jeopardizes the further preservation of books. The Gyumri city hall allocated 80 sacks of coal to the libraries, but due to the transportation problems not all the libraries received them.
