INSTITUTE TO BE RECONSTRUCTED AT RUSSIA’S EXPENCE

Regions

Armenian government can’t afford Gyumri Pedagogical Institute building reconstruction. There are no means in the state budget to allocate for that purpose.

Under intergovernmental agreement Russia will give money for the building repair.

The amount necessary for reconstruction works will be determined during Armenian urban planning minister’s visit to Russia.

Finance minister’s recent statement that the institute needs no a new building prompted angry reaction from the institute rector Vardevan Grigoryan. In his interview with Gyumri’s Tsayg TV company correspondent he denounced the statement as unawareness of the matter.

The rector said the old building is intended for 600, not the 3,500 students attending institute.
