"Sevak Evening" dedicated to memory of poet Ruben Sevak
On June 18, With the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, "Sevak Evening" dedicated to the memory of the martyr poet was held at the Ruben Sevak Museum in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The event was attended by the Brotherhood of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, artists, the daughter of philanthropist Hovhannes Chilingiryan Shamir Chilingiryan with her husband Hakob Avagyan. The opening speech was made by the Director of the Museum, Priest Sevak Saribekyan followed by the performance of the string quartet after Ghazaros Saryan and the "Nairyan" vocal ensemble performed by the Western European and Armenian composers. RA Honored Artist Greta Mejlumyan recited poems by Ruben Sevak. At the end of the evening, His Holiness talked about the bright image of Ruben Sevak. On this occasion, the Catholicos of All Armenians thanked the philanthropist's family with a gratitude for providing a beautiful corner for the memory of Armenian people, where visitors not only get acquainted with Sevak's family and heritage, but also recognize his spirit. The museum located at the historic building of Ghazarapat of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin was opened on September 10, 2013. In September, the museum will celebrate its fifth anniversary. So, Sevak award dedicated to Sevak's personality, life and heritage, will be awarded for the achievements recorded in the field of culture, art, literature and music.
