Naira Zohrabyan urges Government not to be stubborn

  During the discussion of the report on the activity of the Central Electoral Commission at today's session of the National Assembly, member of the Tsarukyan alliance Naira Zohrabyan called on the Government to admit and accept their proposal. "Territorial rating system showed its absolute apolitical nature. There were elections, not for the ideas of parties, brands and projects, but a resource battle. Even the ARF (Armenian Revolutionary federation) defended our proposal on withdrawing the territorial lists and passing the proportional electoral system. " Naira Zohrabyan said they were ready to set up a working group and discuss the improvement of the Electoral Code. According to her, going to the elections with this electoral system meant once again to have distorted elections, which would not express the public opinion. "I call on the ruling party not to be stubborn, because you understand that there was no election for ideas and programmes. The formula the more money, the higher the rating worked. With this format, we cannot go to the next election. The bad thing is that we have always made a change on the threshold of any election very quickly, without having time, " concluded Naira Zohrabyan.
