Today, during the discussion of the bill on making the Criminal Code amendments, concerning the prevention of violence during the professional activity of doctors in the penitentiaries, submitted by the HHK (Republican Party) MPs Karen Avagyan and Hrayr Tovmasyan in the National Assembly  Gevorg Petrosyan from Tsarukyan faction declared that the presented law was vulnerable, and the likelihood was great that either it would not be used or would be abused. Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the Tsarukyan faction, stated in her speech that there was no one who would support violence, regardless of whether it was applied to doctors, journalists, or miners. "We condemn any violence. I, being a former journalist and an MP today, will start an initiative in order to make a strict legal order for hindering journalists' professional activities in a much more sophisticated manner. What should be said to a doctor who, standing next to a dying patient, says that he does not have adrenaline to stimulate the patient, and sends his relatives to buy it from a pharmacy. Violence does not need to be distinguished by special professions, it is already on the Criminal Code. If we make distinctions, then journalists are being subjected to more violence today. If that's the case, then let's burden the Criminal Code and write separately for profession that violence cannot be accepted. " The Yelk (Way Out) faction MP Artak Zeynalyan in his turn noticed: "If violence against journalists is separated on the Criminal Code, then it is meant to provide freedom of the press". The HHK MP Rustam Makhmudyan stated in his speech that bringing the bill to the National Assembly was an anachronism because it did not answer a number of questions. "If the number of violence against doctors reaches the number of violence against journalists, then yes, violence against them can also be fixed in the law."
