The law of the Republic of Armenia does not prohibit the use of animals as an entertainment
The "Rio" shopping center opened several days ago in Yerevan, but there are already several complains about it. And the reason for these complains is mainly about the exotarium, which will be located in the center of the mall.Exotic animals such as leopard, kangaroo, turtles and so on will be kept in this exotarium. Facebook users have launched a unique campaign by giving a minimal score to the RIO Facebook page, thus ensuring a low rating for the page. We talked with Arsen Gasparyan, project coordinator of the World Wide Fund for Nature Armenian Branch, who also expressed his dissatisfaction with the Facebook platform. Arsen Gasparyan mentioned that these animals are not characteristic to our nature. "We think that out of the wild animals should be kept in zoo and only in the zoo, because the zoo has a specific goal: to educate children and to conserve them out of the wild. In the case of exotarium, such a thing cannot happen. It is only an object of entertainment."
