150th Anniversary of Komitas and Hovhannes Tumanyan in UNESCO Calendar
The 39th session of the General Conference of UNESCO, held in Paris, has decided to include the 150th anniversary of Komitas and Hovhannes Tumanyan's birth in the UNESCO calendar of renowned people and major events of 2018-2019. The applications for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Soghomon Soghomonyan, known as Komitas (1869-1935), composer, folk singer and soloist, presented by the Republic of Armenia with the support of France and Germany, and Hovhannes Tumanyan (1817-1923), poet, writer, translator, presented by the Republic of Armenia with the support of Georgia and Russia, were authorized by the Organization.
