Solution to bear-problem
By the instruction of the Head of the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Environmental Inspection of the Ministry of Nature Protection, the territorial subdivisions perform tours because of the news about the bad conditions of bear kept in Armenia on October 25. The size of the bed for 2 bears kept in the territory belonging to "GAJEGORTS" in Yerevan corresponds to the RA Government Resolution 26.06.2009. The Directorate assured that the relevant documents "On Determining the Procedure for Holding and Using Wild Animals in Wild and Semi-Free Conditions, including Animals Registered in the Red Book of Armenia," exist. The size of the two bears kept in the territory of "Arjanoc" restaurant complex in Hrazdan, however, does not meet the terms of the requirements set out in the above-mentioned decision. The management of the restaurant complex promised to provide bears with more favorable conditions. The problem is in the spotlight of the Environmental Inspectorate and the Inspection Body. Additional information on the results of the visits to the regions of the Republic of Armenia will be provided regularly.
