“Even if we get rid of this government within 10 years, education will not benefit from it,” said Anahit Bakhshyan, an education expert, member of the Yelk (Way Out) faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders.
She remembered the law on education adopted in 1999, according to which the allocation to the education sector cannot be less than in previous year. Meanwhile, allocations have dramatically dropped in recent years. “The government spends money on business projects, as a result we are having an illiterate society which they can rule the way they want to. Such government is an evil.”
Anahit Bakhshyan urged parents to be exacting. “15 million have been spent on school autonomy, but the state does not let schools be autonomous.”
