The elimination of the right of the academic procrastination will restore the principle of justice in higher education institutions, said Levon Mkrtchyan, Minister of Education and Science. He personally supported the the project offered by the Ministry of Defense. "There is a situation in the Armenian higher institutions that 15 students of the same year join the army, meanwhile others do not because they received some points more during the admission exams. We should manage the problem," said the Minister to A1+. The draft law "On the Military Service and the status of Military Servicemen" has been put into circulation by which the provision conditions of academic prohibition are changed. According to the law, all male students, after receiving their Bachelor Degree, are to join the army. They will maintain the opportunity of taking their Master's Degree if they sign a three-year contract with the MoD, and serve in the army as an officer. Members of the Science Development Initiative think that the principle of continuous education is thus violated. "The right of education is never violated. The countries, such as Israel, that have followed this principle have registered the highest results in the sphere of education," said Levon Mkrtchyan. The full video is available here.
