Magnus Carlsen continues to lead the tournament table
The fifth round of the games took place at the major international chess tournament held on the island of Isle of Man. World champion Magnus Carlsen and Ukrainian Pavel Elyanov continue to lead the tournament table with 4.5 points each. Even though Armenian Grandmaster Sergei Movsesian has not lost any game, he is in the 19th place with 3.5 points because his last two rounds were ended in a draw. Our other chess player, Gabriel Sargsyan, lost to American grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura in this round and moved back to 47th place with 3 points. Our compatriot Varujan Hakobyan from the US also has the same result. But in the 5th round, he won his opponent and went up to the 46th place. Brazilian Armenian grandmaster Krikor Sevag Mkhitarian lost his last game and is on the 70th place with 2.5 points now. The 6th round will take place today. World champion Magnus Carlsen will compete with his main competitor Pavel Elyanov. Sergei Movsesian will compete with the Indian master Ratnagar and Canadian master Aman Hembleton will meet with Gabriel Sargsyan in this round.
