Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian answers questions of Voice of America. Question: Mr. Nalbandian, in your speech at the Sixth Armenia-Diaspora Conference you referred to the Karabakh conflict and spoke about the return of some territories. Your speech was interpreted in different ways by people. Will you explain what you meant? Answer: Some quotes and comments were torn out of context. I spoke about the three well-known principles and six elements repeatedly mentioned in the statements of the leaders of the [OSCE Minsk Group] co-chairing countries regarding the settlement of the Karabakh issue which, as the co-chairs say, were developed and presented to the parties as a single whole, and attempts to separate one principle from others or one position from others will make the settlement impossible. This is what Azerbaijan has been doing for many years. As two days ago Armenian President stressed in his speech at the UN Headquarters it is very important to determine the status of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh). If the issue is solved, all other issues will be resolved in a fair and logical manner. I would also like to emphasize what we have repeatedly said: only with the participation of Nagorno-Karabakh will the solution of all these issues be made possible. Question: Mr. Nalbandian, are you going to meet with Azerbaijan’s FM on the sidelines of your visit? If so, when with the meeting be held and what issues will be discussed? Answer: Yes, the meeting is scheduled for September 23. The agenda includes the organization of a possible meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the schedule of the co-chairs’ planned visit to the region. We are going to discuss with Mr. Mammadyarov these two issues.
