Not only political figures but also the highest clergymen visited Yerablur on the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day. His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of Cilicia, did not want to speak about anything but independence. "What day is today? Let us all concentrate our feelings on the independence and strengthen it,- said His Holiness and continued.- Independence is a sacred value, every Armenian's aspiration and obligation. We managed to have a free, independent Armenia, and we should do everything to strengthen its independence." Aram I did not want to comment on why he had decided to critisize the government during the Armenia-Diaspora Conference and refused to explain his words. "God bless you all. His Holiness Garegin can answer the question." His Holiness Catholicos Garegin II understood his spiritual brother's words. Diaspora and Armenia should unite forces in order to stop immigration. Catholicos did not know whether it was authorities fault, but he knew where it came from. "We are a warring country and, natually, there are families, young men who want to avoid the danger. The country is in a state of economic blockade and this economic situation also affects the peosperous life of our people." Garegin II encouraged people not to leave Homeland because of injustice and failures. " We cannot leave our country because of failures and injustice.
