Rule of serving military service at last 150 km far from home eliminated (video)
Today at the Government session Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan presented two new bills; “On defense” and “On Military service and status of serviceman”. Yesterday Serzh Sargsyan convened a National Security Council session on this issue. According to these legislative changes “I have the honor” and “It’s me” projects, which passed public discussions, will be realized. The bill on Military Service aims at bringing into line the requirements of the changed text of the Constitution and ensure legal base for the new policy. A number of changes have been offered in organization of military draft. So, the rule of serving the military service at least 150 km far from home will be eliminated , which was invested for ensuring discipline. “Now we effectively organize it by drawing, so there is no reason why the serviceman cannot serve his military service closer to his home,” said the Minister.
