The Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations says they have put out the flames in all the four burning tanks at the Nairi chemical plant. However, they still release high temperatures. An automatic system has been created to ensure constant cooling. The Ministry says the situation is under control and two firefighting crews are still working on the site to prevent further outbreaks of fire. A massive fire broke out in the chemical plant on Monday, causing health concerns among public, especially residents of nearby residential area. More than a hundred firefighters were sent to the scene to fight the fire which engulfed storage containers filled with chemical waste from the rubber plant. Yesterday, the Ministry said firefighters had largely extinguished the fire and only a small source remained in one of the container. It also said the recorded levels were below the levels to be specified as harmful and did not pose danger to residents.
