Gevorg had bruises under his eyes - says his mother (video)
Gevorg Safaryan, a member of the Founding Parliament movement, does not complain of conditions in the Nubarashen penitentiary “Conditions are much better now than they were in the past. Nine inmates were put in the previous cell, now we are three here. On the whole, he is not dissatisfied. He just needs certain things which we shall bring on Monday,” Gevorg’s mother Shushan Berberyan, told A1+. She talked to her son on the phone two days ago. She says Gevorg was moved to the present cell after their complaint. There, he was threatened by criminal elements. “It was very dangerous to place him among criminals. Since last January we have seen what attitude is shown to him,” Shushan Berberyan said. That is why Gevorg preferred to stay in a punishment cell for 24 days. During his stay there, Gevorg did not receive the food sent to him by his mother. “He had to eat and drink whatever he was given. He had lost weight. When I saw him last there were bruises under his eyes, naturally the result of such conditions," the mother said. Gevorg Safaryan was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for using violence against a government representative. He is also charged with planning mass disorders in April of 2015.
