Deputy Speaker of Armenian Parliament meets with US Ambassador to Armenia

On July 21, the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-USA Friendship Group Arpine Hovhannisyan met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia Richard Mills. The RA NA Deputy Speaker Arpine Hovhannisyan highlighted the development of the relations with the USA, the deepening of the inter-parliamentary ties and strengthening of cooperation in different spheres. The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly highly assessed the role of the Friendship Groups in the full implementation of the parliamentary diplomacy potential and underlined the effective cooperation of the two countries’ parliamentarians and the activation of the mutual visits. Arpine Hovhannisyan evaluated the continuous efforts of the United States aimed at strengthening of Armenia’s democratic institutes, the efficiency of the fight against corruption, the development of the civil society and the implementation of the reforms. Richard Mills congratulated Arpine Hovhannisyan in being elected in the post of the RA NA Deputy Speaker and leading Armenia-USA Friendship Group. The Ambassador highly appreciated Arpine Hovhannisyan’s contribution and efforts in further deepening of bilateral relations and expressed conviction that the cooperation in the legislative body will be as efficient as it has been in the executive body. “The friendship and partnership of our states is lasting, frim and multi-layered. We expect to continue our cooperation with the parliamentary Friendship Group under your skilful leadership. We will strengthen together the parliamentary ties between the USA and Armenia and form new opportunities of cooperation,” Richard Mills noted. The interlocutors also discussed issues regarding the upcoming cooperation of the Friendship Groups of the two countries and the formation of joint agendas, the National Assembly's Press Service reports.
