“We try to protect human rights in Artsakh in accordance with European standards,” Human Rights Defender of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), Ruben Melikyan, said to A1+ Company. “We always try to express our legal position, relying on the European human rights system,” he continued.
Speaking about the latest border tensions and security of the Artsakh people, Mr. Melikyan said that the Republic of Artsakh tries to do everything to ensure that the security [of the Artsakh people] be on the highest possible level.
“Everyone knows what kind of enemy we are dealing with. Security is not a black and white phenomenon. One cannot say that it is absolutely safe in Stepanakert and absolutely dangerous in Talish. Security has its levels. Naturally, the distance from the Line of Contact has its impact on the level of security,” Ruben Melikyan said.
