Representatives of the Armenian Ombudsman’s Office visited on June 28 the Court of General Jurisdiction of Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts and the Nor Nork division of the Armenian police after receiving a report that police officers had used physical force against citizens in the courtyard and taken one of them to a police station in Nor Nork district. During the visit, they learnt that the police used excessive force against the citizen, without telling him about his rights and obligations during the detention. Lawyer Lusine Sahakyan informed the group that she had been hit by a police officer. Based on the information, letters were sent to the Office of the Prosecutor General and Police to institute proceedings in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code addressed to the RA General Prosecutor's Office and the RA Police concerning the initiation of proceedings and clarifications in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code and Disciplinary Code of the Armenian Police.
