According to the words of Bardugh Gabrielyan, Director of the NAS Scientific Center for Zoology and Hydroecology, outlet of 270 million cubic meters water from Lake Sevan cannot remain without any consequences; it will cause decrease in water level. To remind, this year it has been planned to take 100 million cubic meters more water from Lake Sevan instead of former 170 million cubic meters. “Now when the process of increasing water level continues, there is no way back. If we stop the process or decrease it by several cm, we will cause swamping and irreversible processes, which will be very difficult to retrieve later,” says the specialist.
