Five years ago wine revolution started from Saryan Street. This girl isn’t an ordinary businesswoman. At the age of 19 Marianna Saghatelyan was already mad for wine art. “When clients came, they didn’t know what wine was. They thought that if it was rose wine, it meant it was made of rose. Now the same client comes and orders wine from concrete region and made of concrete grape type. So, there has been a huge development. Wine culture, of course, is very popular, it means that everybody is interested in it, but not everybody masters it,” she told “A1+”. Though wine making has centuries’ long history in Armenia, modern wine lovers weren’t aware of current types of wine. “Among our wide range of wines, when one enters In Vino, Armenian wines are on the most honorary place. Here is the whole collection of Armenian wines; we have decided to separate them according to the regions. We have different types of wine- Georgia wines, Artsakh wines- Berdashen, Vankasar, Khndoghni, Kataro. As of now we have the most expensive Armenian wine, Zorayr Yeraz, which costs AMD 70 000. It is so expensive, as it is made of the oldest type of grape- Areni. It is harvested by hand, for some time it is kept in a wine jug, this all is the uniqueness of this wine.” Marianna infects her clients with wine culture and Yerevan residents enjoy wine. “Saryan was a good place for implementation of this idea with wine, as Saryan was an empty street and few people used to come here. And the idea was to make Saryan a street for wine lovers and those, who are interested in different wines, so that they come here and enjoy wine. Now you can see that there are 5-6 wine bars in Saryan and we became good neighbors. And of course, there isn’t lack of wine lovers.” We have 6100 years’ long history, as we have found world’s oldest wine press, Areni 1 cave, and in that wine press we have found remnants of Areni grape seed, which proves that here we produced wine. As a specialized store we try to keep the temperature stable. All year round the temperature here is the same.” Marianna is one step forward from wine development phase. In the whole world organic wines are in demand. If Armenian winemakers are able to master production of organic wine, it will be huge success. Marianna says, “The peculiarity of organic wine is that special ingredients set by law are used during its production. There isn’t any certified organic wine in Armenia, as the whole process takes 3 years.” Watch more in the video!
