In spite of negative conclusion, mine will be exploited
Yeghegis, Malichka rivers and tributaries of Arpa are at risk of being poisoned with heavy metals; here “Vayk Metal” company will exploit new mines. Hakob Sanasaryan, Chairman of Union of Greens, at today’s press conference warned about the dangers threatening Tek mountain and nearby reserve in Vayots Dzor. “It is real lead and zinc ore. In case of its exploitation, all the water systems will be damaged,” noted the environmentalist. The exploitation of the mine, according to the words of Hakob Sanasaryan, will affect soil fertility, health of people and animals; it may cause cancer, infertility and many other diseases. It turns out that the same mine of Vayk Metal company presented the program for exploitation to the Ministry of Nature Protection in 2013, but the company didn’t receive a permission for exploitation. In 2016 again the Ministry of Nature Protection gave negative conclusion, the company filed a lawsuit and sued the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Gladzor municipality, which also forbad the exploitation of the mine. As a result the company won the lawsuit.
