Doctor Kokhan looks for his Armenian patients

Famous Russian medic Evgeny Kokhan is looking for his Armenian patients, whom were treated after the 1988 earthquake. “A team of famous physicians led by Doctor Kokhan arrived in Armenia after the 1988 earthquake in the country. The group comprised of 15 doctors and 17 nurses spent seven days in Yerevan and worked for 24 hours, performing 168 operations,” says journalist Tatiana Chernova. The doctor keeps a notebook with the patients’ surnames but it further complicates the efforts to find the patients. The journalist is now trying to help the Doctor Kokhan in his search. “He [Kokhan] is writing a book about his patients, there are many celebrities among them. He keeps contact with all of them but has been unable to find his Armenian patients. He wants to know whether they are alive,” says the journalist. Tatiana Chernova came to Armenia for her summer holidays but she also wants to help the doctor find these people. She is going to apply to the National Archives, hospitals and Gyumri Municipality to collect information about the people who were operated on after the 1988 earthquake.
