Director of Financial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Tigran Davtyan, has again dismissed rumors about a common currency for all EEC member states. ““No specific efforts have been or will be undertaken in that direction in the near future. It all has to do with sovereignty. The ideology of a single currency requires a single monetary policy as in the case of the European Union. We are not yet ready for that and I cannot say when we will be ready,” Mr Davtyan told a news conference today. He says the main objective of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union EAEU is to guarantee the free movement of goods, capital, services, and labour. “Our aim is to harmonize tax policies and financial markets. Our main goal is to facilitate the work of business entities,” he said. Mr Davtyan says one of the most important tasks remains exchange of information between administrative authorities of the member states. He hopes that in two years it will be possible to finalize the digitalization of all processes.
