“Who said that the new parliament would agree to the return of the liberated territories which are strategically crucial as security zones?” says Republican lawmaker Raffik Grigoryan. “I cannot imagine a single Armenian who would agree to cede these territories.” Rafik Grigoryan says he has no idea what Karabakh might cede to Azerbaijan. The newly elected lawmaker is not sure that the Karabakh issue will be resolved during Serzh Sargsyan's presidency. “He [Sargsyan] will not do it with Ilham Aliyev. There are the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and super powers, who will have their say." Armen Rustamyan, head of the parliamentary group of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun, does not agree with the opinion that Serzh Sargsyan had the Constitution amended to be able to surrender the aforesaid territories to Azerbaijan. “The Armenian side has a very clear stance. There can be no talk about concessions at all as Azerbaijan does not recognize the right [of the Karabakh people] to self-determination.” “Through a referendum held recently, the people of Karabakh announced that it is meaningless to speak about the return of territories unless the territorial integrity of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh is restored and the independence of the country is recognized. Dashnaktsutyun is of the same opinion,” Armen Rustamyan said.
